USA Team Handball Statement on Beach Handball Uniforms

USA Team Handball Statement to the USATH Community Regarding Women’s Beach Uniforms
In response to the IHF’s recent modifications to the rules regarding uniforms for women’s beach handball competitions, USA Team Handball wishes to reaffirm its commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that is welcoming to all individuals interested in participating in the sport of handball.
What this means for USATH sanctioned events is that, in addition to the IHF women’s beach uniform guidelines, USATH will allow its women athletes to wear other types of uniforms during official competitions. Athletes/teams that wish to wear uniforms other than those approved by the IHF will be asked to submit a request to USATH in advance of the competition so that all relevant parties at the event (referees, event host, etc.) will be notified of the variations that will be accepted. A panel of former women’s beach national team athletes will be appointed and authorized to review and approve any requested uniform modification. Complete details on this process will be forthcoming.
For international competitions, USATH will fully support its Women’s Beach National Team should they choose to wear uniforms other than those prescribed by the IHF.
USATH is also committed to working with the IHF to promote guidelines that we believe to be in the best overall interest of the sport.
