Registration Open for Selection to Junior and Youth Men's National Teams for IHF Intercontinental Phase in March
After securing a Gold Medal at both the Junior IHF Trophy and Youth IHF Trophy in the North American and Carribean Handball Confederation (NACHC) region, USA Team Handball’ is pleased to announce its intention to compete at the IHF Trophy - Intercontinental Phase for both age groups. The tournaments are set to be held concurrently - at a location still to be determined - from March 9th to 16th .
All athletes born in 2004 or later and who are interested in possible participation must submit their candidature for selection at usateamhandball.sport80.com under "Upcoming Events" or in the "Camps" tab on the user's profile.
The registration will close on January 20th at 11:59 MST.
All submissions will be evaluated based on selection criteria and will be applied to decide on possible selection by the Selection Committee no later than February 10th, 2025.
All athletes’ selections will be done in accordance with selection procedures published on the USA Team Handball website. (www.usateamhandball.org/team-usa/selection-procedures)
Registration: Pre Registration required through USATH’s membership system, usateamhandball.sport80.com.
If you are new to the talent pool and have not been evaluated by our US Men's National Team staff in the past six (6) months, please send videos and complete all required information through USATH designated email address: julio.sainz@usateamhandball.org.
All athletes must have a valid USATH membership, a valid and unexpired US passport (expiration date must be six (6) months after the conclusion of the tournament), and have successfully completed the Safe Sport online training.
Handball experience: Not required. However, according to selection criteria:
“In selecting athletes to be members of teams participating in the abovementioned tournaments and entering the National Team Pool, the Men’s National Team Selection Committee or Women’s National Team Selection Committee will consider information, specifically Observation and statistical evaluation, of both objective and discretionary nature, that pertains to the criteria listed here and in Section 2 in the categories of Offensive Performance, Defensive Performance, Goalkeeping Performance, Psychological Skills and Preferred Hand, Preferred position, Versatility (ability to play other positions), Physical Efficiency required for the sport, and technical-tactical Readiness. The selection procedures of a team handball player have to concern itself with the individual’s overall performance and his/her contribution to the performance of the team as a whole in interaction with the other players…” #
Youth and Junior National Team Age Requirements: According to competition selection rules, all athletes must be at least 16-years-old to be selected for the qualification events. However, there are no age requirements to be added to the National Team Pool.
Athletes’ Intake Form (for new athletes only): Required. Form must be completed at the time of the registration. Form can be found on this page: www.usateamhandball.org/athlete-intake-form
Medical Insurance: Required. All participants must show proof of primary insurance coverage.
