U.S. Women’s National Team Invited to Kingdom of Morocco for Green March Celebration Tournament
by USA Team Handball
Colorado Springs, CO— September 23, 2025 — The U.S. Women’s Senior National Team has been invited by the Royal Moroccan Handball Federation to participate in an international exhibition tournament in Smara, Morocco, from November 1–6, 2025.
The event, known as La Marche Verte, is organized in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Morocco’s Green March National Day, providing the U.S. delegation the additional opportunity to take part in numerous cultural festivities surrounding the celebration and competition.
Interim Senior Women’s National Team Head Coach Dr. Sarah Gascon and her staff are leading preparations for the trip. Invitations to athletes to join the traveling roster are on-going.
Even as a friendly tournament, the international competition will serve as valuable preparation for the program's growth and cohesion, coming just months after its promising performance at the North America & Caribbean Handball Confederation (NACHC) Championship in April.
“We are thankful to the Royal Moroccan Handball Federation for the tremendous generosity of this invitation. This event represents an exciting step forward for our Women’s National Team program as we continue to build momentum following our progress earlier this year.” said USA Team Handball CEO Michael King.
More details on the traveling roster, as well as match schedule and streaming, will follow in the coming weeks.
