USA Men Qualify for 2027 Pan American Games with Two Wins Over Canada
SIOUX CITY, Iowa — The USA Men’s National Team officially secured its place at the 2027 Pan American Games with a commanding two-match series victory over Canada on August 7–8 in Sioux City, Iowa.
The United States entered the weekend needing to win the head-to-head qualification series against Canada to earn a berth at the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. Team USA left no doubt.
On Friday, August 7, the U.S. opened the series with a decisive 40–18 victory, building a substantial advantage heading into Saturday’s second match. The Americans returned Saturday afternoon and completed the job with another impressive performance, defeating Canada 40–23 to officially punch their ticket to Lima.
Left Wing Samuel Hoddersen was named the United States MVP of the weekend, highlighted by an outstanding 14-goal performance in Friday night’s victory.
The successful weekend was about far more than the results on the court. USA Team Handball extends its sincere thanks to Explore Siouxland for its exceptional support in bringing international handball to the region and helping create a first-class experience for the athletes, teams, and spectators.
USATH also thanks the City of Sioux City, the Sioux City Parks Department, and Long Lines Auditorium for their tremendous partnership and hospitality throughout the event.
The reception from the Siouxland community was exceptional. From the support surrounding the matches to the enthusiasm inside Long Lines Auditorium, the weekend demonstrated the opportunity and appetite for international handball in communities across the United States.

With the two victories, the U.S. Men now add another major international competition to their calendar and will represent the United States at the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima.
The qualification continues a strong competitive period for the USA Men’s program as it builds toward the international opportunities ahead and, ultimately, the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
