USA Team Handball Announces Wheelchair National Team Leadership Change, Reopens Athlete Selection
USA Team Handball has announced that Dr. Ford Dyke is no longer the Head Coach of the U.S. Wheelchair National Team, effective August 3, 2026.
The decision followed continued substandard conduct and repeated violations of organizational policy.
USA Team Handball central staff has assumed direct administration of the program. New coaching and support staff are being identified and will be announced later this week as preparations continue for the 2026 IHF Wheelchair Handball World Championship. The organization is focused on improving communication with athletes and USA Team Handball leadership, as well as the program’s overall operation and performance in international competition.
In light of the staffing change, the athlete availability period for the 2026 IHF Wheelchair Handball World Championship will be reopened. Eligible athletes may add or withdraw their names from consideration until August 7, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. MT. Existing submissions will remain active unless withdrawn by the athlete.
