Metzger, Stein
- Captured first pro title events in 2001 with partner Kevin Wong
- Won gold medal in 2001 at FIVB event in Espinho, Portugal
- Won gold medal in 2001 at FIVB event in Gstaad, Switzerland
- Went into 23rd pro beach event with three gold medals, 12 podium finishes and 13 "final four" finishes
- Earned bronze medals in 2002 in Switzerland and Canada
- Thinks the FIVB World Tour is a great way to do what he loves, traveling and meeting people.
- Favorite stop on the tour is Austria because of the people and "acai", a Brazillian fruit
- He is teamed up with Kevin Wong and the two have been friends since age 13 when he first started playing. He and Wong aren't best friends, but connect on the beach in a way that makes them perfect playing partners.
- Graduated from UCLA with a degree in Environmental Studies
- Currently taking architecture classes at the University of Hawaii.
- Was offered spots on the U.S. indoor team, but refused leaving the beaches of Hawaii.
- Known on the tour as the classic "beach boy."
- Likes to surf outrigger canoes in the off-season.
- Played on three national championships teams while at UCLA and was a two-time All-American (1995, '96) .
For Stein, the Olympic Games are constantly on his mind. Being the youngest, he is forced to improve every day for a shot at the Olympic Team. To help prepare, Stein has taught himself to use the pressures and stress of tournaments today as practice for the Games.
