Millar is a Mormon, and the faith calls for Sunday to be a day of rest. “A lot of people know I'm not going to be able to go to church on Sunday,” Ryan told the Los Angeles Daily News. “They bring up (San Francisco quarterback and BYU alumnus) Steve Young. A lot of (church) leaders say how I can use volleyball and my status to do good things for the church.”
"It is definitely a great honor," Millar said about being named to the 2004 U.S. Olympic team. "I have played in a lot of matches for the USA but every time I put on the uniform, I realize what an honor and blessing it is."
