Began sailing the Yngling, a new Olympic class, with Liz Filter in 2001 with the goal of making the Olympics. Nancy Haberland was added to the team just six months before the Trials in March 2004, and the team was a bit of a surprise winner over a former Yngling world champion, an Open world champion and two past Olympians. “For the final two months before the event, we never left the dock without a coach, never practiced with tired sails, and made the regatta our complete focus,” Cronin said. “It is hard to do that for any other event.”
First sailed when she was 10 days old on the family cruiser that arrived the day she was born. “Both of us, my mother likes to add, were grossly overdue.”
