  • 1988 U.S. Olympic volleyball team (youngest member)
  • 2002 World Championships silver medal team member
Did You Know?
  • Did not play in the 2002 World Championship finals loss to Italy because of an eye injury suffered in practice.
  • Returned to U.S. National Team in 2002 after playing 12 years professionally overseas in Italy at the advice of fellow national team member Tara Cross-Battle, who had signed on with Phipps' Italian team.
  • At the age of 20, tested positive for marijuana in a random drug test early in 1990 and was banished from the U.S. National Team.
  • At the 1998 Seoul Olympics, Phipps was a budding phenomenon as a tall, slender 19-year-old outside hitter who had joined the U.S. national team as a high school senior.
