Eight Athletes Nominated to Pan American Games Team

INDIANAPOLIS – USA Diving has announced the eight athletes it has nominated to participate in the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Leading the team is two-time Olympian Troy Dumais (Ventura, Calif.), who will compete in his third Pan American Games. Dumais won bronze medals on 3-meter at both the 1999 and 2003 Pan Am Games, and he also won a bronze in 3-meter synchro with his brother, Justin, in 2003. Dumais will compete on 3-meter and pair up with Mitch Richeson (Greenwood, Ind.) in 3-meter synchro at the 2007 Games.

Also selected on the men’s side are David Boudia (Noblesville, Ind.) and Thomas Finchum (Indianapolis, Ind.). They’ll compete in 10-meter and synchronized 10-meter. The pair has medaled in synchro events at its last six international competitions, most recently winning gold at the AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix last month. Finchum also won gold on 10-meter at that competition.

Four teenagers will represent the U.S. in the women’s events. Nominated in women’s 3-meter and synchronized 3-meter are Kelci Bryant (Chatham, Ill.) and Ariel Rittenhouse (Santa Cruz, Calif.). Mary Beth Dunnichay (Elwood, Ind.) and Haley Ishimatsu (Seal Beach, Calif.) will compete in synchronized 10-meter, and Ishimatsu was also selected to compete 10-meter. Bryant and Rittenhouse won silver together at the 2006 World Cup. Dunnichay and Ishimatsu picked up their first medal together by winning a bronze at the Canada Cup last month.

The Pan American Games will be held July 14-29 with diving competitions on July 25-28.
