USA Cycling National Development Team Rider John Devine Wins Ronde de l'Isard Stage Race in France

Saint Girons, France (May 29, 2007)—After moving into the overall lead at the Ronde de l’Isard on Friday, USA Cycling National Development Team rider John Devine (Dixon, Ill./VMG Racing) won the four-day stage race in France after retaining his overall lead throughout the weekend.
Devine finished 49 seconds ahead of Belgium’s Francis De Greef in the final overall standings.
Devine won the 170-kilometer stage three from Arbat to Guzet Neige on Friday to move into the leader’s jersey with three stages yet to contest. On Saturday, the first of two stages was cancelled because of adverse weather, but Devine placed 13th in the 24-kilometer time trial in the afternoon to retain his lead. In stage five on Sunday, a 150-kilometer road race from Tarascon to Saint Girons, Devine placed sixth, 14 seconds off the pace of stage winner Oscar Sanchez of Colombia and in the same group as De Greef to solidify his win.
Other strong performances for the USA Cycling National Development Team came from Tejay Van Garderen (Fort Collins, Colo./VMG Racing), who placed seventh in the stage-four time trial, 1:25 off the pace of winner Ignas Konovalovas of Lithuania. Van Garderen went on to place 29th overall as the second-best development team athlete.
Chad Beyer (Anthem, Ariz./VMG Racing) also finished the race, placing 56th, 39:07 back.
