U.S. Men fail to qualify for finals at World Cup #2 in Cairo, Egypt

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After a semifinal day that saw all three U.S. women advance to the finals of the second World Cup stop of the 2007 Modern Pentathlon season in Cairo, Egypt; today was not as kind to the U.S. men as none advanced past today’s semifinal.
The 88 athletes competed in three groups in which the top 12 finishers in each group advanced to Sunday’s final. Representing the U.S. was Eli Bremer (Monument, Colo./Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Air Force), Dennis Bowsher (Dallas, Texas/Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) and Sam Sacksen (Colorado Springs, Colo.).
Bowsher finished 15th in Group C with 4,276 total modern pentathlon points. Bremer also posted a 15th place finish in Group B with 4,216 total modern pentathlon points. Sacksen placed 17th in Group C with 4,144 total modern pentathlon points.

Group C Sam Sacksen - 21st - 4144 points Shoot - 177 (1060 points) Fence - 12V - 15D (776 points) Swim - 2:10.99 (1232 points) Run - 9:41.95 (1076 points)

All three U.S. women will compete tomorrow, Saturday, March 24 in women’s final in Cairo. Competing for the U.S. will be Sheila Taormina (Livonia, Mich./Colorado Springs, Colo.), Emily Shertzer (Hershey, Penn./Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Mickey Kelly (New York, N.Y./Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army).
