Vering, Ruiz win bronze medals

BRASOV, Romania Americans Brad Vering and Justin Ruiz each won bronze medals as the U.S. Greco-Roman World Team competed in the Ion Cornianu Memorial Tournament on Aug. 10-12.
Vering (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) finished third at 84 kg/185 lbs. He fell to eventual champion and past World silver medalist Badri Khasaia of Georgia in the quarterfinal round. Vering came back to beat Hungarys Zsolt Dazka in the match for the bronze medal.
Ruiz (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) finished third at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. Ruiz fell to eventual runner-up Lajos Viragh of Hungary in the semifinals. Ruiz came back to beat Hungarys Juan Nemeth in the match for the bronze medal.
Harry Lester (Akron, Ohio/Gator WC) of the U.S. placed fifth after bumping up a weight class to 74 kg/163 lbs.
American Lindsey Durlacher (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) lost in the first round to past Junior World bronze medalist Peter Modos of Hungary. Modos went on to win a bronze medal at 55 kg/121 lbs.
American Joe Betterman (Chicago, Ill/New York AC/USOEC) also dropped his first match at 60 kg/132 lbs.
U.S. wrestler Dremiel Byers (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) reportedly went 1-1 and did not place at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. No further information was available for this weight class.
