USA Water Ski has selected Chris Parrish (Orlando, Fla.) and April Coble-Eller (Lillington, N.C.) as its Male and Female Athletes for the Month for March. Parrish and Coble-Eller are now eligible for the United States Olympic Committee’s Athlete of the Month honors.
“Congratulations to Chris Parrish and April Coble-Eller on their exceptional performances at the Moomba Masters,” said Steve Locke, executive director of USA Water Ski. “Their accomplishments prove once again that U.S. water ski athletes are among the best in the world.”
Parrish won the men’s slalom title at the 48th Moomba Masters, March 10, in Melbourne, Australia. Parrish, 29, out-dueled New Zealand’s Aaron Larkin in a runoff to earn his second career Moomba Masters’ title. After both skiers tied with 4 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off, Parrish scored 2 buoys at 41 feet off to Larkin’s 1-1/2 buoys at 41 feet off in the ensuing runoff. Parrish also won the head-to-head title at the 2008 New Zealand Pro-Am, March 2, in Lake Crichton, New Zealand.
Coble-Eller also excelled at the Moomba Masters, finishing second after a runoff with Australia’s Emma Shears. Coble-Eller scored a 1/2- buoy at 38 feet off to earn a spot on the podium.
