Eight U.S. Athletes Selected To Compete On 2007 U.S. Wakeboard Team

POLK CITY, Fla. -- The Team Selection Committee of USA Wakeboard has selected eight U.S. athletes to compete as members of the 2007 U.S. Wakeboard Team at the World Wakeboard Council’s 7th Wakeboard World Championships, Oct. 30 - Nov. 2, in Doha, Qatar. The athletes were selected based on their riding ability and their performance throughout the 2007 season.
“Congratulations to the elite group of athletes selected to represent the United States at the Wakeboard World Championships,” said Jim Grew, USA Water Ski’s president. “This is an extremely talented team sure to prove their dominance against the competition from around the world.”
U.S. athletes selected to compete as members of the U.S. Wakeboard Team are: Andrew Adkison (Windermere, Fla.), Open Men; Shelby Kantar (West Sacramento, Calif.), Open Women; Corrie Dyer (Crossville, Tenn.), Junior Women; Dallas Friday (Orlando, Fla.), Open Women; Raimi Merritt (Lake Worth, Fla.), Girls; Daniel Powers (Orlando, Fla.), Boys; Phillip Soven (Longwood, Fla.), Open Men; Robert Soven (Longwood, Fla.), Junior Men. Selected alternates are Trevor Hansen (Groveland, Fla.) and Maeghan Major (Charlotte, N.C.).
USA Wakeboard is one of nine sport disciplines of USA Water Ski. USA Water Ski was formed in 1939 as a non-profit organization promoting water skiing in the United States. USA Water Ski is affiliated with the International Water Ski Federation (world governing body) and is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and Pan-American Sports Organization as the national governing body of organized water skiing in the United States. With more than 20,000 members, USA Water Ski is the largest water ski federation in the world.
