U.S. Elite Water Ski Team Selected Following U.S. Team Trials

USA Water Ski has announced the selection of the 2007 U.S. Elite Water Ski Team following the conclusion of the 2007 U.S. Water Ski Team Trials, June 8-10, in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. The 2007 U.S. Elite Water Ski Team will compete in the 2007 Water Ski World Championships, Aug. 27-Sept. 2, in Linz, Austria.
Athletes selected to the 2007 U.S. Elite Water Ski Team were: Rhoni Barton-Bischoff (Orlando, Fla.), April Coble-Eller (Lillington, N.C.). Regina Jaquess (Suwanee, Ga.), Mandy Nightingale (Sapulpa, Okla.), Cory Pickos (Orlando, Fla.) and Jimmy Siemers (Round Rock, Texas). Selected to the pool of alternates were: Danyelle Bennett (Zachary, La.), Scot Ellis (Auburndale, Fla.), Russell Gay (Winter Garden, Fla.), Caroline Hensley (Hixson, Tenn.), Joy Todd (Pierson, Fla.) and Jonathan Travers (Groveland, Fla.). The American Water Ski Association's International Activities Committee (IAC) selected the team based on performances at the three-round team trials. The American Water Ski Association is a sport discipline of USA Water Ski. Mike Meek (Albany, Ohio) is the coach of the U.S. Team and Frank Harrison (Rancho Mirage, Calif.) is the team leader.
"I believe we have a real solid team with a lot of experience," said Harrison, who also serves as chairman of the IAC. "We should be in a good position to win our fourth consecutive world team title."
USA Water Ski was formed in 1939 as a non-profit organization promoting water skiing in the United States. USA Water Ski is affiliated with the International Water Ski Federation (world governing body) and is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and Pan-American Sports Organization as the national governing body of organized water skiing in the United States. With more than 40,000 members, USA Water Ski is the largest water ski federation in the world.
