Krueger, Hensley Selected USA Water Skis May Athletes Of The Month

USA Water Ski has selected Freddy Krueger (Winter Garden, Fla.) and Caroline Hensley (Hixson, Tenn.) as its Male and Female Athletes of the Month for May. The U.S. Formula 2 Water Ski Racing Team was selected as Team of the Month. Krueger, Hensley and the U.S. Formula 2 Water Ski Racing Team will now be eligible for the United States Olympic Committee's Athletes and Team of the Month honors.
In his 12th appearance at the 48th Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament, Krueger, the defending Men's jumping champion, clinched his third consecutive Men's jumping title and sixth Masters' title at the event that was held May 26-27 at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga. Krueger soared 231 feet across the water to win the title. He outscored rival Jaret Llewellyn from Canada, who finished second with a 229-foot leap.
Hensley won her first Junior Women's overall title with 2,937.0 points at the 15th Junior Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament on May 25 at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga. She clinched the title after winning the Junior Women's slalom event rounding 4 buoys at 35 off. She won the slalom title after a thrilling runoff with U.S. athlete Danielle Shipe. Hensley also came in second in tricks with 5,400 points behind France's Iris Cambray, who scored 6,520 points to win the title.
The U.S. Formula 2 Water Ski Racing Team captured the gold medal at the 15th Water Ski Racing World Championships, May 12-19, in Rotorua, New Zealand. Australia earned the silver medal and New Zealand won the bronze medal at the event. The 2007 U.S. Formula 2 Water Ski Racing Team consisted of Glen Anderson (Studio City, Calif.), Brad Raine (Costa Mesa, Calif.), Janine Doherty (Oakley, Calif.) and Lori Dunsmore (Boulder City, Nev.). Raine and Anderson earned the silver and bronze medals, respectively, in Men's Formula 2, while Dunsmore earned the silver medal in Women's Formula 2.
USA Water Ski was formed in 1939 as a non-profit organization promoting water skiing in the United States. USA Water Ski is affiliated with the International Water Ski Federation (world governing body) and is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and Pan-American Sports Organization as the national governing body of organized water skiing in the United States. With more than 30,000 members, USA Water Ski is the largest water ski federation in the world.
