Athletes Krueger, Truelove win titles at 2007 Moomba Masters

The husband-wife duo of Freddy Krueger and Karen Truelove (Winter Garden, Fla.) won titles Monday as the 46th Moomba Masters water ski tournament concluded in Melbourne, Australia. Krueger won Men's jumping with a leap of 217 feet (66.2 meters) and the Night Jump event with a distance of 215 feet (65.40 meters). Truelove won Women's slalom, scoring 1 buoy at 38 feet off. The Moomba Masters, which took place March 9-12 on the Yarra River, marked the start of the 2007 water ski season for U.S. professional athletes.
"We couldn't have asked for a better start to the 2007 season," said Andy Jugan, USA Water Ski's executive director. "All of our athletes performed extremely well in Melbourne. Congratulations are extended to Karen Truelove and Freddy Krueger for their excellent performances."
Other athletes earning titles were: Great Britain's Jodi Fisher (Men's slalom, 4-1/2 buoys at 38 off); Argentina's Javier Julio (Men's tricks, 10,040 points); Australia's Michale Briant (Women's tricks, 7,870 points); and Greece's Angeliki Andriopoulou (Women's jumping, 154 feet/47 meters).
U.S. athletes who advanced to the finals in respective events were: Rhoni Barton-Bischoff (Women's tricks and jumping), Marcus Brown (Men's slalom), Jill Knutson (Women's slalom), Mandy Nightingale (Women's tricks) and Chris Parrish (Men's slalom). Other U.S. athletes who participated in the Moomba Masters were: Danyelle Bennett (Women's slalom, tricks and jumping), Scot Ellis (Men's jumping), Ryan Fitts (Men's jumping), Ty Oppenlander (Men's slalom), Greg Sund (Men's slalom), Joy Todd (Women's tricks and jumping), Jonathan Travers (Men's slalom) and Terry Winter (Men's slalom).
