The U.S. Wakeboard Team earned the silver medal at the fourth annual International Water Ski Federation Wakeboard World Championships, Oct. 9-12, in Brisbane, Australia. South Africa (293 points) and Great Britain (285 points) rounded out the top-five placements in the 19-team field. Four U.S. riders earned individual medals.
“As the sport of wakeboarding continues to evolve so does the IWSF Wakeboard World Championships,” said Steve McDermeit, executive director of USA Water Ski. “This year’s event gave way to unprecedented levels of talent and excitement. Although we were hoping for a world team gold medal, we’re thrilled that the U.S. Wakeboard Team was able to secure second place for the second consecutive year.”
